A sweet baby girl due in June!
All the mamas in the playgroup wanted to throw a fun, frilly diaper shower for our dear friend, Jessica.
The theme: Princess and the Pea.
{In case you are not familiar with the tale: The story tells of a prince who wants to marry a princess, but is having difficulty finding a suitable wife. Something is always wrong with those he meets, and he cannot be certain they are real princesses. One stormy night a young woman drenched with rain seeks shelter in the prince's castle. She claims to be a princess, so the prince's mother decides to test their unexpected guest by placing a pea in the bed she is offered for the night, covered by 20 mattresses and 20 featherbeds. In the morning the guest tells her hosts that she endured a sleepless night, kept awake by something hard in the bed; which she is certain has bruised her. The prince rejoices. Only a real princess would have the sensitivity to feel a pea through such a quantity of bedding. The two are married, and the pea is placed in the Royal Museum.}
We stacked up burp cloths on a babydoll bed and transformed a typical diaper cake into looking like layers and layers of mattresses and bedding.
Jessica also has several of these Trafalgar Square sweet prints in the nursery, so when I discovered a Princess and the Pea print, I knew we had to get it for her! Each of us also wrote a personal little note inside the cover of the book The Princess and the Pea.
It was so fun coming up with lots of little details for the dainty diaper shower! :)Isn't she just lovely?! Truly glowing!
As we typically do, all of us chatted well past bedtime (see the two jammied-cuties?!) and had the best time celebrating a very special Mama and baby girl who we can't wait to meet!
