Aubrey's Robot Party

The day the ultrasound tech announced, "It looks like you'll be having a baby girl!" I never dreamed I would be throwing a Robot Party for her one day.

But that's just what I did on Saturday.

Aubrey actually planned the party herself, she just had me do all the leg work.

Aubrey's Birthday Party Requests:
Robots
At the Science Museum
Invite all her friends and Otto the Robot, of course
Cupcakes AND a cake
Robot food (?)
Yummy snacks
Balloons -- BIG ones
Party hats
Oh, and all using her favorite colors: red, pink, yellow and orange.

Told ya she planned the whole thing. :)

He brought the birthday girl a gigantic bouquet of balloons.

And then the two of them did the robot dance together.

It was epic.

Robot Refueling Stations/The Decor
When you have a party for kids and adults over lunchtime at a high-energy burning place, 
it's necessary to make sure every one has enough fuel and hydration!

I had individually packed lunches prepped for each of the kiddos:

The Cake

Unlike last year, Aubrey LOVED having everyone sing Happy Birthday to her.

The Party Favors

Aubrey saw these "pinchers" one day while we were out shopping and exclaimed, "Mom! Look! Robot arms!"
She wanted one and for all her friends to have one too.

Aubrey also loves puzzles. And candy.
When I found these online, I decided to make "Robot Repair Kits".

Oh, and Robot Bubbles...or as we call them: Bubble Bots. :)

The Build-A-Bot Station

I wanted to have a "craft" or something for the kids to do when they arrived.
I decided to get marshmallows of all shapes and sizes, pretzel sticks, and edible markers to let the them make their own robot snack. This was one of those things I wondered if it would be a total flop, but all the little ones LOVED it. Yay!

They were so cute -- the kids AND their tasty robots!

The Robo Photo Booth

I found these robot hats awhile back for Aubrey to play dress up
and thought it would be a shame to not include them in the party.

There were tot-bots on the loose in no time!

And where you have tot-bots, you know mom-bots aren't too far away!

And dad-bots and a baby-bot too!

And last but not least...

The Birthday Girl!

I'm pretty sure Aubrey had the best day of her life.
She had this smile on the whole time!

She thought her party was out-of-this-world fun.

And we think Aubrey is pretty out-of-this-world amazing.

3 Year Check-Up

Aubrey won't be 3 for another month, but she had her yearly well-child check-up this week.
The first words out of her pediatrician's mouth as she entered the room:
Well, she certainly isn't getting smaller!

Weight: 38 lbs. (95th percentile)
Height: 41.25 inches (110th percentile)

She was up-to-date on all her vaccines, so there were no shots needed.
Aubrey showed off with answering all the "Can you...?" questions, and after a few minutes her doctor said, "Okay, I'm going pull up some 4-year-old questions...let's see what this girl can do!"
The doctor did notice a slight decline in her vision, but said it was so minor she wouldn't advise doing anything at this point. It was a great check-up, and I am beyond thankful for a healthy munchkin!

Each day I literally watch Aubrey transform more and more into a little girl.
But every now and then, I catch a tiny glimpse of my baby girl behind those eyes...

And it makes me want to cry.
