Daniel worked
all weekend long.
(Boo.)
But I decided that wouldn't keep Aubrey and me from having a little firework fun.
So, I stocked up on sparklers and pop pop snappers.
One of us was super stoked about our
lame exciting weekend entertainment.
The other one...not so much.
Instead of joining me in the backyard, Aubrey decided to take shelter under the covered porch and watch.
Quite dramatically, I might add.

Then she realized it wasn't so bad or scary afterall.
She even let out some giggles of excitement once I lit the first sparkler.

After seeing that I survived the first couple of rounds, she braved holding her own.
The tongue out/boob hold must be a new firework demonstration technique.
I can assure you this was
not my sparkler stance.
At least that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
It didn't take too long for Aubrey to decide she'd rather it be me holding the sparking, smoking stick.

I can't say I blame her; I did buy the cheapest set of sparklers. Plus, I wasn't super comfortable with my child holding what looked like an explosive device.

But the big hit over our holiday weekend: Pop Pop Snappers.

Aubrey would come up to me with sweet innocence and ask, "Mom, can I please do some more of those pop pops?"
After going through 2 boxes worth, she just looked at the ground and said, "I
still can't figure out how those do that!"

I hope you all had a fun and wonder filled 4th of July!
